One of my favourite resources for cruelty-free products is Etsy.com. What a great outlet for small businesses and the average person to showcase their products. Through my research, I found out that a LOT of people are making their own soaps, lotions etc. I was admittedly a bit overwhelmed at first, with just the sheer amount of sellers to sift through. I decided to target my search within Canada – reasoning that shipping would be faster and cheaper – and I love supporting fellow Canadians.
The good news – I made a fantastic discovery; a shop called Bee’s Knees Bodyworks. The shop owner is Trish Nicol, who created the business after making products as a hobby from her home in BC. I ordered 2 jars of “Whipped Buttercream” and it is amazing!
Product: Whipped Buttercream body cream by Bee’s Knees Bodyworks. $9.50 for a 4-oz. jar.
Why I Love it: Just the name had me salivating. I tried 2 different scents, “Vanilla Forest” and “Tropical Smoothie”. I have been debating which one I love more but just can’t choose. The vanilla one is definitely more subtle, but just when I start thinking that I prefer it, I use the tropical smoothie cream and it just gives off a great scent of summer and pina coladas.
The texture can only be described as decadent. It truly is “whipped” but once on your skin it seems to melt, and rubs in easily. The only thing I can compare it to is true, real whipped cream – not the canned stuff! It moisturizes without being the least bit greasy.
I can’t wait to try other Bee’s Knees Bodyworks products as they sell everything from lip balm and insect repellent to offerings just for baby! P.S. Proof of my love for this cream can be seen in the image below, as I completely emptied the one jar before getting around to taking a photo…
